Nutrition is necessary

Hey guys!!

Last week I discussed how important drinking water is for your body, keeping yourself hydrated while working out is essential to your muscles weightlifting capabilities.  This week I want to discuss nutrition, because your diet is generally 75% of weight loss!!

I found these two pics on Pintrest that pretty much sum up all of the foods that I have been eating.  I have definitely increased my fruit and veggie intake !!

← These foods are packed with different vitamins and minerals, and many of these ingredients are in my smoothie mix!!

The rule of thumb I have been following is to eat more veggies and less processed foods.  If it comes in a can, but I can make it myself than I choose to make it myself.  For example canned veggies are practically extinct in my household.  I prefer to eat fresh veggies over canned, the same goes for pastas and other boxed or canned dinners.  I still eat some canned soups, but not as often.

I have not cut carbs out completely but I have limited my intake.  I still eat meats but they have to be lean and prepared either in water or baked.  When I do use oil to fry foods or to cook with I use either Olive Oil or Coconut Oil.  Both have some amazing properties that are extremely beneficial to our bodies.....we can save that info for another blog post.

I am also drinking more protein shakes, especially after workouts to replenish my muscles.  I have been drinking smoothies with various fruits and veggies that detox, alkaline, and balance my body's chemicals.  This has given me so much energy and I love drinking them prior to my workouts to give me an extra boost of power......

I know that I'm still a work in progress and that changing your diet is super difficult for some of us!!  I know that it has been hard for me because I have a super sweet tooth, but I have also limited my sweets intake.  I have not cut it out because honestly I have not been brave enough to do that.  I eat sweet breads for breakfast because I figure if I can't bring myself to cut it out then I should at least be consuming them early enough in the day so that I can burn off the extra calories and fat!!

I still drink my morning coffee, not because I need to but because I love it!!  I love coffee and all of the wonderful flavors.....what can I say I'm a coffee fanatic!!!!

I have food preferences that I will not get rid of but have learned to control myself and my "food addictions".  I don't want to feel like my new lifestyle is a punishment, so I do not remove these things from my diet.  I know I could lose more faster if I do eliminate them but this is something I'm changing for life not for a few weeks just to shape up.

This chart shows so many different foods →  that can be used in a variety of recipes.  I have an obscene obsession with avocados so I'm finding that a lot of my foods are being made with that.  Be creative so you don't get bored.....sometimes a little variety can go a long way.

I was very scared of dieting because I had this misconceived notion that diet food is boring and tasteless....but that is not true. You don't have to eat boring foods to be healthy, you just have to be creative!!

If you would like to see some recipes comment below and I will be more than happy to share some.  If you know any recipes please share them so we can all have fun with food.

Please comment any questions or suggestion as well, and don't forget to share!!
