More Home Remedies

I found some really great info on home remedies  on the Molly Sims website that address different ailments from a common cough to headaches.  For example I didn't know that ginger is not only great in hot tea for colds but can also help to fight cancer!  She also explains how coconut oil is great for teeth and gums, I knew it was awesome for your hair but your teeth too?  Who knew...  Some tips & tricks to help with skin care that I also read on Molly Sims' website are as follows: 1. Use a Dedicated Face Towel - If the towel you are using to dry your face is the same towel used to dry your hair and body, you maybe transferring germs, bacteria, and oils from one place to another, increasing the possibility of clogged pores and irritated skin.  Use a hand towel dedicated to your face ONLY.  Molly recommends using a plain white one in order to monitor how much makeup and residue is left after cleansing.  If the towel has residual makeup try s...

Home Remedies: Face masks

In one of my previous entries I had mentioned an at home remedy for facial scrubs I found online. Three parts baking soda one part water, makes a paste.  Rub in a gentle circular motion to exfoliate the skin. Rinse clean. Cocoon curls and other fine hairstyles

Image
Per my Facebook post I had tried Cocoon curls on Lali's hair, it sounds more complicated then it actually is.  What you do is twist the hair, make a loop, then wrap the remaining hair around the loop, swoop the bottom end halfway through the loop and give it a tug.  Thus creating a cocoon shape with a looped bottom that is easy to pull back out of your hair.  Unfortunately my daughters hair is so baby fine that only one of the cocoon curls stayed put!!  So she only had one section of curly hair and the rest fell straight as usual.  Needless to say if I want to curl her hair I will stick to the rag curls, cause for her soft hair it just works better.  Her end result was such a flop I had to braid her hair that day.            Cocoon Curls Cocoon Curl  Unhappy end results in braid  :( Well I went investigating other interesting hairstyles that I could do with my daughters hair, and I came across a swep...

7 Day Diet Cleanse

As I've mentioned in my Facebook posts I have started a new diet that was passed on to me by a friend at the Head Start my kids attend.  This diet has jump started my metabolism and has changed the way my body processes food.  It has also changed the way I cook and eat for myself and my family as well.  Even my husband has noticed changes in his body.  I did not put the whole family on this diet, I just changed some of the menu for our meals.  The diet is as follows: Day 1 Eat as much fruit as possible, melons are best (NO BANANAS)      Now this day was the hardest for me!!  I was hungry all the time, so I made fruit smoothies using unsweetened OJ, strawberries, honey dew, pineapples, and cantaloupe.  That helped to fill me up.  I also cut some avacados, tomatoes, used a pinch of salt and granulated garlic for flavor and a squeeze of lime and a spoon of olive oil as dressing.  This would fill me up, unfortun...
